Billy Hedrick, 86, of Crockett, Texas and formerly of Teague, Texas, went to be with his Savior and Lord on December 2, 2020.
Mr. Hedrick was born on April 30, 1934 to Merdie Clarence Hedrick, Sr. and Mamie Odessa (Moore) Hedrick in Teague. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merdie and Mamie Hedrick, Sr.; brothers, Merdie Clarence Hedrick, Jr. and John Edward Hedrick; and sister, Frances Maurine Hedrick George. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Myrian Valarie Padgett Hedrick; sons, Stacy Ray Hedrick (Linda) and Calvin Wayne Hedrick (Debra); daughter Donna Triniece Hedrick Wilson (David); sisters, Mary Lou Hedrick Hill (Dickie) and Jo Ann Hedrick. Grandchildren: John Meredith Hedrick (Jenny), Melissa Grace Sanchez, Michelle Dina Sanchez (Jackie), Colton Wade Hedrick (Caitlin), Destinee Grace Hedrick, David Kyle Wilson, Cody Aaron Wilson, Caleb Dean Wilson. Great grandchildren: Aubreigh, Emma, Trooper, Joaquin, Eva, Gwendolyn, Autumn, Billye and Griffin. Billy was a devoted husband, brother, dad, pop and grandpa. He was a treasured and devoted friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In his early years, Billy worked on the pipeline traveling to the Eastern States. He then started his career as a millwright/mechanic in Houston, Texas at Ethyl Corporation, Pasadena, Texas in 1965. After 31 years he retired and moved to Houston County Lake, where he built a home for him and his wife to enjoy the country.
Billy was an officer of the Antioch Cemetery Association; his family roots ran very deep in Teague and Fairfield. He was a member of the Homeowners Association for Golden Acres Subdivision in Houston County Lake. He was a member of the FFA in High School and College. He loved all sports and played football for the Teague Lions and was presented a Letterman’s Jacket.
Billy was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt with his boys, grandsons and granddaughter. He also enjoyed crappie fishing at the Honey Hole with his wife Valarie. Both wanting to claim the Fishing Trophy. He had a green thumb and planted a garden for many years. He enjoyed writing stories and poems, which many were published. He enjoyed wood carving, with his pieces displayed at his home and his children’s home. He enjoyed sharing his travel adventures with his children and grandchildren. He spent many mornings being a witness to God’s beautiful creation of nature.
