Obituary for DONALD McLEOD
Donald Lewis McLeod, 81, of Fairfield, passed away Christmas Day, Saturday, December 25, 2021 in Fairfield. Donald was born at home in Fairfield, Texas on July 11, 1940 and was delivered by his future wife’s grandfather, Dr. W. N. Sneed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Willis Ruth McLeod and Minnie Eula Scott McLeod; brothers, George G. McLeod, Samuel David McLeod and Jimmy Weldon McLeod. Preceding him in death also were two sisters; Bobbie Ruth Elmore and Willie Rae Gagnon and one grandson Donald Scott Brockway. Donald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Millicent Sneed McLeod; one son, Frank Willis McLeod and wife Leigh of Rockwall; a daughter, Andrea Richardson and husband Michael of Fairfield; grandchildren, Blake Brockway, Tyler McLeod and Madison Leigh Cavett; one brother, Hugh McLeod and wife Deanna of Granbury; several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
In high school he was active in his church and singing with a quartet. After school in Fairfield Don enlisted in the United States Army and served at various bases in the United States and the DMZ in Seoul Korea. After his military service he worked in Dallas as a credit manager while earning his Bachelor’s degree in business at Dallas Baptist College then his Master of Science in Business from Amber University in Dallas. He was a Past Master of Fairfield Lodge #103 A.F. & A.M (1995-1996), a member of the Hella Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite in Dallas. He was a past member of the Fairfield Library Association Board of Directors for several years.
Don and his wife retired to Fairfield and were members of First United Methodist Church where he was very active in the choir. He loved music and enjoyed singing solos and with local Southern Gospel Groups. He loved his family and worked long hours to provide for this family in the early years while going to school at night for his degrees. In retirement he enjoyed the ranching business while he was physically able and was devoted to his family.
