Obituary for HERBERT (BUSTER) LILLEY
Herbert (Buster) Lilley, 80, of the Lanely Community in Freestone County passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at his residence.
Mr. Lilley, a retired carpenter was born May 31, 1939 in Slaton, Texas to parents Charnell and Dauskola Lester Lilley. He married Rhio Hubbard on October 29, 1960 in Phoenix, AZ. They had been Freestone County residents for 19 years having relocated from Lancaster, TX. Mr. Lilley was a six-year U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and served about the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Essex. He was a Master Mason, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Hella Shrine Temple in Dallas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Susie Ortega and two brothers, Charles and James Lilley.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Rhio; three children, Rayland Lilley and wife Ally of Galveston; Stephen Lilley and wife Rhonda Byrum of Ennis; Keenan Lilley of Lanely; two sisters, Velda Gunter of Missouri; Bonnie Starkey and husband Carlton of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Justin Lilley of Midlothian; Misty Newsom of Quitman; Amber Lilley and Connor Lilley both of Cleveland, TN; seven great-grandchildren; and very special family members, Dale Lilley and wife Fae of Lanely.
