Roy Don Carroll, 81, died Sunday September 23, 2018 in Fairfield, Texas after a short illness.  Memorial services will be held in October at Stewards Mill Cemetery.  A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Capps Memorial Chapel.     Don was born December 18, 1936 in Stewards Mill, Texas to parents Jewel Awalt Carroll and Jesse Leroy Carroll.  Don loved all sports and could always tell you about players and game scores. His love of sports led him to become a football and basketball Referee for over 30 years. When basketball season came around you could always find Don and a couple of his friends in their special seats in the Fairfield High School gym.  Golf was another sport Don enjoyed with his friends. He also loved the outdoors and hunting.  Don loved Stewards Mill and the many memories growing up in that area.  Don married Frances Stone Carroll on July 18, 1959.      Left to cherish his memory is his wife Frances; a son, Michael Kevin Carroll; a daughter, Kristen Kimberly Carroll; a son-in-law, Hugh Fryer, Jr.; two grandchildren Jeffrey Kyle Fryer and fiance, Megan Fuchs; Kacie Renae Carroll; two sisters, Sharron Hagen and husband Roy of Buffalo, Texas; Lecia Stautzenberger and husband Jes of Fairfield, Texas; three brothers, Glendon Carroll and wife Iva of Teague, Texas; James Carroll and wife Kathy of Buffalo, Texas; Stephen Carroll and wife Nora of Fairfield, Texas; one sister-in-law Betty Tinsley and husband Richard of Galveston, Texas.      Preceding him in death are his parents and step-mother Ruth Carroll; daughter, Daphne Carroll Fryer; brother-in-law Rance Stone and sister-in-law Faye Compton.
