Sadie Armstrong, 84, died Monday, December 20, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Crosby, Texas.
Mrs. Armstrong was born March 21, 1937 in Chaperito, New Mexico to parents Esequiel and Marcela Salaz Lucero. She had been residing in Crosby, TX for 21 months moving there from Texico, New Mexico where she had lived for 30 years. She was a long-time resident of Fairfield before moving to New Mexico. She married Henry Armstrong on September 22, 1957 and he preceded her in death in 1991.
Sadie was one of 16 children and she had a twin sister. She was a devout Catholic and spent much of her time praying when not working. She held several jobs during her working years and retired from the Texas Youth Commission but continued to work with the elderly. Her last job was in Clovis, NM working at the Retirement Ranch in Clovis at age 81 and retiring due to reasons of health. She was very active all of her life and had many hobbies. Her favorites were dancing, singing and playing bingo. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by nine brothers; two sisters; and three sons, Kelly Armstrong in 1978; Wayne Armstrong in 2019 and Charles Armstrong in 2019.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Debbie Campbell and husband Keith of Whitehouse, TX; Teresa Cowden and husband John of Crosby, TX; Jerry Armstrong of Texico, NM; two goddaughters, Julie Romero of Ft. Worth and Esmeralda Patterson of Amarillo, TX; two sisters, Mary Gallegos of Amarillo, TX and Rosie Morales of Albuquerque, NM; two brothers, Piffy Lucero of Littlefield, TX and Joe Lucero of Amarillo, TX; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
