Obituary for Sarah Jo Shamblin

Sarah Josephine Shamblin, 76, of Fairfield, Texas, passed away on April 5th, 2023 at Fairfield Nursing and Rehab Center surrounded by her family.

Sarah was born on July 8th, 1946 to Carl “Ned” Harrison and Hazel Christine Ivy Harrison in Teague, Tx. She enjoyed spending time with her 4 granddaughters, hanging out at the beauty shop, drinking Diet Pepsi, and shopping. She was a member of Round Prairie Baptist Church and in her earlier years devoted her time to their youth program.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Cynthia Shamblin; a son, Carl Wayne Shamblin; and her brother-in-law, Gary Mooney.

She is survived by her son, James Shamblin and wife Traci of Robinson; 4 granddaughters, Brittany Kennedy and husband Cody, Carla Minze and husband Cullen, Madison Terry and husband Justin all of Fairfield, and Averi Shamblin of Robinson; 3 great-grandchildren, Brennon and Brayden Kennedy, Hadleigh Terry, and 1 great-granddaughter that is due for arrival in September; 1 sister, Emma Grace Mooney of Alvin; numerous nieces and nephews; and very good friends Leta Goolsby and Retha Little both of Fairfield; and Parker Red of Fairfield.

Services will be held at Capps Memorial Chapel on Saturday April 8th, 2023. Visitation will begin at 1pm and funeral will start at 2pm. Interment to follow at Fairfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation , an organization Sarah felt strongly about.
