Obituary for Louise Black

Velma Louise (Vaughn) Black went to be with her beloved Savior on October 15, 2019, at the age of 93.
Louise was born to Roy and Gladys Vaughn on November 22, 1925 in Jewett, Texas, and attended school in Buffalo. Louise lived in Freestone County for most of her lifetime and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield.
Louise married Purvis Boyd Black on April 14, 1946. They shared a lifetime of love and laughter until Purvis went to Heaven in March of this year. We know he was standing among the angels, waiting with Jesus with their arms wide open, to welcome her to her eternal home.
Louise lived by the motto "'the more the merrier,'' and was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She was known far and wide for her fabulous cooking, and her Thanksgiving dressing was legendary. Her home was always open and welcoming. If you stopped by for a visit, she'd tell you to pull up a chair because she was going to pour you a glass of sweet tea and feed you-it was just her way of showing her love.
Louise was gracious, gentle, and kind. She loved flowers and grew the most beautiful hydrangeas. She loved to read and play 42 dominoes. Hers was a quiet but quick sense of humor and oh goodness was she full of spunk.
Louise had the greatest love for her Lord and for her family. She had many roles in her life, but her favorite was that of Nonnie. Those that got to call her Nonnie were blessed beyond measure by her care.
Louise leaves behind her cherished family: daughter Vicki Becker and husband Paul of Charleston, South Carolina; son Barry Black and wife Debbie of Franklin; daughter Janet Sustaire and husband David; son Steve Black and wife Teresa; and daughter Susie Lane and husband Dennis, all of Fairfield; 12 grandchildren-Chris Becker, Lori Becker Hamill, Richie Black, Toni Black Chanley, Kerri Black Cleere, Greg Sustaire, Anna Sustaire Stone, Brandon Black, Haylie Black Riggs, Ashlie Black, Adrian Lane Little, and Dustin Lane; 31 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Odell Albritton, sister in law, Mary Scott, brother in law, Kenneth Black, and many nieces and nephews.
Not only has Louise been reunited with Purvis, but she is also enjoying a heavenly reunion with their daughter Cheryl, her parents, and her siblings, Dorothy Hartley, Laveda Shelton, Roy Vaughn, Jr and Bill Vaughn.
